Day 1

Well after having a ripper time up at their Auntie Jodi and uncle Chris's place, we were on our way home.... just under 4000 kms away. We left Armidale with the sky full of clouds and it was just a short distance before it started to rain, the first proper rain that we had all trip.

The kiddies in frount of Thunderbolt's Statue

The kiddies in frount of the bushranger Fred Ward's grave, he was known as Captain  Thunderbolt.

Wow something interesting in Nyngan!

This leg of the trip was always going to be a nice little 682km drive, it was a pity it rained for most of the drive but we finally poped into the dusty old town of Cobar. It's become a Paul's tradition that whenever your in cobar you must get a photo in frount of the Grand Hotel.... don't know why?

And when your in Cobar you should have a gander at the Cobar miners Heritage Park, here's the nevilles on a Stamper Batterie which was used to crush the Gold bearing ore to separate the precious metal from the rough rock.

The Cobar miner

The Cobar miner is a memorial to honour and remember miners from the old days and the fellas who are out their today working their butts off in one of Australia's hottest areas, the miner is portrayed with a modern air leg drilling machine which is utilised today for specialised mining activities.

The Cobar North mine

This mine shaft was 519 meters deep! crikey now that's deep when you think that from the top of Sydney Harbour bridge to water level is only 141 meters, imagine being that far under the dust.... bugger that.

A underground mine loader from the CSA mine nearby which the kiddies loved playing on, and then it was time to hit the sack so we booked into the Cooper City motel for the night.
