Day 3

Well with some sleepy eye's it was time to get the little mugs up out of bed, and start on our third day's drive which would be a long one. A nice 881kms along the Barrier n' Eyre highways, but first we had a date with McDonalds for breakfast and then a quick trip around Broken Hill.

Our first stop as at the top of 'The line of lode' where the Miners Memorial is located, you can see it in the background but here are the kiddies on a underground mine loader.

Jacko giving it a go.

This is the Miners Memorial which towers over the Broken hill skyline, it was built as a monument to the hundreds of poor buggers that lost their lives underground in the silver city. All the miners names are writen on the inside of the memorial, and as you can see the mines have clamed a fair few poor souls... over 800 of them on glass panels.

Here are Chase, Jacko and Oscar in frount of an old mine headframe which is in a park in Broken hill, pretty impressive looking thing and the kid's loved having a captain cook at it.

This sculpture was made by the legendary Pro Hart and has been in Broken hill for ages, we usually pop in and have a gander at her everytime were in town.

But it was now time to leave the hill and head towards the South Australian border, and it didn't take long to get their.

At the border

The border town of Cockburn with Oscar in New South Wales and Chase at South Aussie.

We stopped at the town of Peterborough for some hot chips and then back on the road.

You know every time we take the drive across Australia we pass the sign for 'The biggest Gum tree in the world', but for the first time I deciced to go and have a gander at this monster. And isn't she a big ripper and not a bad looker for 500 years old!

Not far down the road we drove down 'Horrocks Pass' and out of the mountains, with the beautiful Southern Flinders Rangers in the background

Oscar n' Chase and the Cattle truck.

Again we drove passed the big Galah in Kimba.

So after a long days drive we finally reached Ceduna in South Australia, were we had a ripper fish n' chips by the Murat Bay. You can see the beaut old Jetty in the background which is about the only thing worth having a gander at, so after a beaut feed we had a nice walk along the beach towards the jetty.

The mob at the Pinky Point lighthouse you can see the grain terminal conveyor belt loading a grain Bulk carrier.

All the kiddies with the old Ceduna jetty in the background, fairdinkum they must of been stuffed by then, after one trip across Australia and now going all the way back... Just over 4000kms Eachway!

Going for a wonder along this ripper old jetty, by the way she is 368 metres long and trust me it's a bloody long walk... and now it's time to hit the sack.... long drive in the morning ha,ha.
