West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood
Well today was going to become one of those days you only dream about, even for a bloke who is a Sydney Swans supporter and a fella who doesn't even like the Eagles. I was given the opportunity to support the Eagles against the mighty Collingwood Magpies, as a guest of Troy and Lyn at there house in Middle swan
And the match started awful with the first quarter going to the magpies by two goals and then more goals having them lead by 23 points at one stage, but then the fight back began with the eagles kicking some goals and going into half time by only two goals down.
And the drinks are going down quick as the third quarter is going from one end of the field to the other with both sides kicking and missing goals, until we hit the end of the third quarter and the scores are tied at the final change.
But just 20 seconds into the last quarter and Brody Mihocek kicks the first which puts the Pies up by bloody six points, then out of the blue De Goey gets the ball and kicks another! Not the friggin' start we needed and we go from standing with our drinks in hand to sitting on the lounge and hoping, then suddenly with goals here and there and were back in the match. With five minutes left big Cox misses a set shot that would of given the magpies a eight point lead, and with the ball moving back up the field Dom Sheed receives it at an impossible angel. But as history tells us it wasn't as impossible as we had believed as I've never seen a ball go so straight through the posts before, and with that goal shouts and yells come out of the garage as we see beers just disappearing out of our hands and down our throats without even touching the sides. With that goal it sends our Eagles into a two point lead with a minute and a bit left to play, and then suddenly out of nowhere an Eagle appears on my bloody scone!
Then with only seconds left Darling drops a sitter in the goal square... bugger! That could of been the 'game set and match' but instead leads to a behind and gives the Eagles a lead by five, the ball movies back up the field and this could be the Endgame for the Eagles, but instead it changes hands and West Coast has the chance to slow the match down and take an unbelievable underdog win. And then Troy and Lyn's garage just goes offfffff
There's yells and shouts and the beers go down quicker then a brides nightie ha,ha, I have never been an Eagles supporter but today I was offered the opportunity to support a West Aussie side, against a supposeably unbeatable side from Melbourne the mighty Magpies. The Party started at the beginning of the first quarter and would go on well into the night, I was a lucky Swans supporter who was given the opportunity to enjoy one of those great matches that only come along every now and again...
