Drive to wave rock (Part2)

And after a couple of hundred kilometers we finally drove into Wave rock, I wasn't to impressed with paying $12 to park there, but they did say the money goes to the park so I just had to believe them hay. From the car park it's only a short stroll to the world famous wave, where I let the rat bags have a surf down the rock wave.

Now Wave Rock is a granite cliff 15 metres high and 110 metres long. Its rounded-like shape has been caused by weathering and water erosion which has undercut the base and left a rounded overhang. A little history here.... In 1960, crystals from Hyden Rock were dated at being 2700 million years old, which are among the oldest in Australia... Strewth! that's a tad old.

We then went for a walk up to the very top of wave rock, where there were a lot of small valleys and hidden caves. The slope is pretty steep in places and I tried to get the kiddies to run and slide down and see what happens, but kiddies today just don't have that daredevilness that we had as kids hay!

Chase and the big Osk found this rock cairn that somebody had left, as you can see there were many others but this one looked the best.

I suppose it wouldn't be to hard to lose a kid or two with these walkways we were taking, mum would be happy ha,ha. I get this 'picnic at hanging rock' sort of feeling ha,ha.

Now this is pretty cool... unless it falls down then it mightn't be so cool I suppose ha,ha.

And as you can see I take my child caring duty to great lengths, I think I was yelling 'more to the left it will look better in the photo' ha,ha. Well come on it's not really that far to fall is it!

And then it was back to the wave for one more muck around, I let the kiddies have a bit of a run around here before heading back to the car. But I did tell them to leave the tiger and brown snakes alone, and no jumping off the top! see I do take my father duties very seriously!
