Now this is a 1946 ford businessman's coupe and isn't she a bloody ripper, this is something my old man would of loved to sit in and just drive down the road with the arm hanging out the window.
Now to petrol heads this is a small block 351cu Ford Windsor which pumps out 250 horses, but too me and you it's just a mouth watering piece of extreme distinguished machinery!
But this one is a bit more yours truly it's just machinery perfection a Holden 355 Hk which was born in a ripper year 1968! under the bonnet is an angry 580hp 355-cube V8 Holden motor, which I think will give the old Tarrago a run for it's money.
But after having a gander at the different cars around the streets the actual race cars finally started to pop into town, at the back of 'The Brook Hotel' they set up a huge pit stop and garage to work on the cars before and during the race.
As the night came in the start of the race began it's a timed rally race so each car started from just outside of the Dome, here is Chase showing us the Captain America 2001 Mitsubishi Lancer which was the kids favorite.
No 50 Hansen / Scandrett entrant 2008 Nissen GTR R35 which after the competition ended did actually come officially LAST! There is a wide variety of cars competing in this race including Classics like Ford Escorts and Mustangs, Toranas and the legendary Commodores to more modern turbocharged Mitsubishi Evos, Subaru WRXs and Nissan GTRs.
This was last years winner a Lotus Exige Sport 410 and is a throwback to another era – a time when motoring was analogue and simple. It's driven by Peter Rullo & Jimmy Marquet who won this event last year, but this year after all the dust was settled came second just two minutes behind the winner.
Car 30 driven by David and Anna Hodges in their DNA Formula Tech High Performance 2013 Holden VF SSV, but only came 5th in there class but it was nice to hear the motor revving around the corners.
After each of there laps the cars either drive behind the brook hotel and into there pit stop, or they line up in the main street at the beginning of the starting point. And as you can see it becomes a bit of a traffic jam, which is great as you can get up close and have a real beaut gander at the race cars.
Car 51 driven by brothers Philip and Davyd Hooper in there 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo, who finished sixth in there class driving down passed the Dome to the start line.
And finally car No 58 driven by Peter Major and co-driver Kim Screaigh who went on to win the Rally for the sixth time, in there 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo. Leading into the final stage of the day and after approximately 210 competitive kilometres across three days of racing, Major was ahead of Rullo by just 6 seconds. On the final stage whilst pushing hard, Rullo, in his new 2019 Lotus Exige Sport 410, locked the brakes coming into a roundabout and went straight over it, damaging three rims and dropping about 1:00 minute, yet over the next day he still maintain second place overall.
A big thank you to Paul Pernechele for the in-car footage of a lap around Ellenbrook, this is a great video to watch. And also a big thank you to TARGA WEST WEBSITE where i pinched some of the photos.
