Early morning rise at Hamelin Station so we can have a BBQ before hitting Shark Bay. so, with some tucker inside and a nice warm shower we headed off towards Denham.

And just down the road we came to the turn off to Whale bone Point where Jacko had a ripper time four-wheel driving up this rocky outcrop so we could get a better photo.

Here's Eddy sitting up top on the cliff at Whale bone Point, and yes it was a great view...

Honestly, I could have stayed up there for most of the day, but since we had a full day of driving ahead, we needed to get moving. Now that we know about this place, we'll stop here next time instead of Hamelin Pool.

So next time I can see us camping on the beach for a free night, a couple of beers some tucker cooked over the fire and just sit back watching the sun set over Whale bone beach.... That sounds pretty cool to me.

And our next stop was at Denham, but the pub wasn't going to open for another half-hour, so that gave us the chance to drive up to Monkey Mia. But I'm not joking there's a ranger stop point just at the start of the little township, and the bloke wanted us to $37 bloody bucks just to have a splash on the beach and sink a beer at the Monkey bar. So we did a youi and drove back about five k's and went off road and hit the beach for bloody free.

And as you can see Jacko loved it as it gave him the chance to go off-road, here he was pumping up his tyres before we hit the bitumen again.

And as we drove back into Denham, the doors of the Shark Bay Pub, which is also known as 'The Oldie', opened up just for us, so we could enjoy a nice cold beer.

Jacko just about to get a nice cold beer for the old man as Oscar hit the dunny, he was also getting some money for the pool table.

And just have a gander at this big bastard it's known locally as GROPER, fairdinkum they must have sat up all night trying to think that name up. This little beauty came in at 181kgs... crikey, it was caught by a bloke named W, Drummond way back in 1957 in Shark Bay waters.

So, after a few coldies we drove off down the road for a swim at Shelly beach, and as you can see even Bazza got out of the car for a swim. This was Bazza's first time having a swim, but he seemed to take to it like a duck to water or make that a Skelton to water.

So, the whole bunch had a swim at Shelly Beach in Shark Bay. Now why do you think they call it that? Well, there are at least 28 different shark species in the Bay. And way back in 1699 English explorer William Dampier observed a large number of sharks in the bay, so after he joined the dots decided he would call it Shark Bay.

As we were having a swim Bazza decided to get out and catch up on his tan, but trying to brown up white plastic bones isn't the easiest thing to do. But talk about doing it tough as this beach was named shelly beach, so yes, I thought it would have shells but what I didn't know is that it actually has bugger all sand, just ten billion bloody little shells. And to make it worse it was about fifty meters bloody wide and yours truly decided to walk to the water's edge with no shoes, well about the halfway point Oscar gave up and walked back to the car to get shoes, so I got him to get mine as I killed my poor bloody feet to finish the slog. But it was a great swim and not every day do you lay back to catch some rays with a Skelton.

After our swim we settled in for a big drive back towards home along the North-west coastal highway, and just as the sun was starting to drop, we made it into Northampton ware we noticed our first pub in a while The Miners Arms.

And as you can see the pub had my favourite beer on tap Travla so I could enjoy a nice cold beer as the boys try to beat each other at pool.

Beautiful...

The Railway Tavern was our next port of call, which was also located in Northampton, it is a charming little pub often referred to as the Bottom Pub. Trust me on this.

As you can see thay have changed inside to a trendier style and to be honest it's not really my cup of tea, but it's back open and that's better than being all old and shut down. The grub thay were serving was really nice but we just had some chips with our beers.

The pool table was up to scratch and the beers were cold, so I was happy, and it turned out to be our last pub for the night as two other pubs were closed.

We grabbed some tucker from Hungry Jack's as it was raining and dark, so there was not much chance of getting anything cooked at the campsite, and as we drove into Ellendale Pool campground it was coming down pretty hard and so we sat in Eddy for a while before we set up camp. But we were still enjoying ourselves with a nice coldie inside a warm car before hitting those bloody tents.
