Road-trip Day two...
Balladonia roadhouse
to Madura roadhouse
(719kms)
Well we made it to Balladonia Roadhouse but unfortunately in the morning I noticed that one of jackos tyre's were showing some metal, so it was either drive back 192kms to Norseman or drive into the unknown with no mechanic for over 1000!
So 192kms later were at Wilson's repairs getting two tyres changed, so it's a little setback but we'll be off on our trip before you know it. Bugger....
But before hitting the Nullarbor Plain yours truly had some rumbling in the tummy, so it was time to get some roadhouse tucker into me. I might of starved last night but I reckon I put that weight loss back on and then some, as this sausage roll was bloody delicious and after being washed down with some Pepsi put a smile back on my face.
Just out of Norseman there's a hill (a little one) which is called Jimberlana Hill, where last time I made Jacko and Sarah climb, so this time I made the boys do it. And I reckon I just worked off that bloody sausage roll! Fairdinkum it fucking nearly killed me, but I did survive and the views from up there made it worth while.
The kiddies took there little drone up and took some photos, but unfortunately they didn't push the SD card in far enough so they didn't record anything... stupid bastards.
Not a bad view hay...
Fairdinkum if Jacko thought he could get away with it I think he'd give it a red hot go, but we all know that this photo would appear on the internet somewhere. And after his mum saw it he would be shot so just don't show this photo to his mum, as you'd be surprised if you saw how far down he would of fell.
Well after our u-turn of 384 kms we finally drove passed Balladonia and headed back on our road-trip, and we didn't have to drive for long before our next photo opportunely as this was the start of the Greatest straight road in Australia. It runs for 146.6 kms while for the old school among us that is 90 miles, hence it's name the ninety mile straight which is the longest straight road in Australia.
And as luck has it we noticed a SHAWS truck going passed us while we were on it, me and the misses loved the Shaws trucks as our close friend Rebecca Mathews drove for them back in her driving days. So even after all these years we still keep an eye out for them, in fact we saw nine of them on the way over.
Then after well.... ninety miles we got to the end
of the straight and drove into our most favorite roadhouse in Australia, my old stomping ground the ripper Caiguna Roadhouse, this is where I meet my one and only... the love of my life and now the misses!
This is the actual petrol pump that Tania got out of a truck and into my life, in fact as she walked into the roadhouse she walked into the back looking for a feed and to have a chat to my bosses. I actually thought she was about to steal something so I followed her into the fridge/freezer, but then after seeing the boss I knew she wasn't stealing and I let her be. But what I didn't know was that was the day that would see the end of my single days...
Over the years I would spend some time sitting out the front of the roadhouse looking at this sign, never did I think that in the future I would be sitting here again with my four boys. But my mind was still on the same thing... Sydney 3020 kms! bugger.
Here is Harrison showing us one of Caiguna's famous works burgers, crikey it looks like a ripper feed.
So after a very long and draining day after doing a 384kms u-turn and still getting to Madura roadhouse, we were about to set up our tents for the night. after a nice roadhouse feed we started the long walk up to the top of the bassin lookout for some drone filming and to watch the sunset.
Jacko showing you our camp compound before our nice long walk up to the look out.
Crikey what a good mob
From up at the lookout with the a Nullarbor moon coming up in the background.
