Day 4

Fowlers Bay to

Bulloo creek parking bay

(916kms)

So after a night of weetbix and bake-beans we packed up our camp and set our sights at getting out of the state before night falls, but as it turned out we just missed out but we did give it a real hot go at it. This photo was taken along the Eyre highway just past Penong, when there's a chance of a good photo opportunity you don't let it pass.

Not much time later we made it to Kimba which is a little ripper town, it's known as the half way mark when your crossing Australia but that's a load of crap as we are well past that.... Thank God.

Fairdinkum a nice old lady offered to take a photo of us all with the big galah, and this was the final result! crikey I can live with it a bit out of focus but strewth she even cut off the galah's head ha,ha. Well we all know that these oldies drive all around the country side in there caravans, and there been known to sink the odd bottle of wine on there travels... maybe that's why.

Well our driving took us through Port Augusta and here we are at the bottom of Horrocks Pass, and with Harrison behind the wheel it was a bit of an eye-opener for the young fella.

We drove through the beautiful little township of Wilmington, and then into another ripper little township of Orroroo.

just as we left the town a flock of cookie-Rios decided to fly straight into Jackos four wheel drive 'Eddie'. As yours truly was driving at the time not only did I get his cars first kill, but I also got it's second and third kill! ha,ha... Anyway hooroo from Orroroo.

Poor little Cookie-Rios but there just don't have a very good flying radar do they, and if your going to play 'Chicken' with a car going at 110 kms your going to have pretty good eye sight. Come to think of it they really do live up to there name hay... Bloody Galahs ha,ha...

Well almost got to Broken Hill but I decided to call it quits, just before the border at Bulloo creek which is a rest area next to the highway. The kiddies are like 'where staying here? Where's the showers?, Where's the camp kitchen with the telly? where's bloody civilization!' But the princess' will be okay once I've had a cold beer!

Everything seems a lot better once I've had a beer. Just as long as I don't tell them the story about a fella named Mick from Wolf creek ha,ha...

Well to our new addition to our family and it's Eddie, Jackos first piece of metal with wheels.

And isn't she a bloody ripper of a car, it's official name is TOYOTA HILUX DUAL CAB UTILITY,

and she is powered by a six-speed four-cylinder turbo-diesel and has a auto transmission (the boy doesn't know how to drive a manual... useless bastard). This 4x4 was built in Thailand that has 130 kW of power (at 3400 rpm) and 420 Nm of torque (at 1400 rpm), it has a 80L fuel tank meaning it should be able to travel 1053km per full tank but that was questionable, and she has a reversing Camera, GPS (Satellite Navigation), Alloy wheels and Cruise Control which came in handy trust me.

Toyota HiLux has been the best-selling 4x4 in Australia for the last 10years, and in doing so the purpose of the Toyota HiLux has changed over the years. The latest generations of HiLux have been built as a touring/adventuring car and with that in mind, Toyota is the only brand to have an allocated spot already built in for a second battery. Perfect for a camping fridge!
