1st friday arvo drinks this year

Well to kick off the year with friday arvo after work drinks you couldn't off asked for a nicer pub, and this time we were going to the legendary Bassendean Hotel or the Basso if your a local.

Over the last couple of years the Basso has undergone a major redevelopment, with the two-storey building now featuring six bars, two kitchens and nine signature zones paying tribute to the history of the pub and its owners. This bar area is really the heart of the Pub, it's known as the Saloon Bar and is a bloody ripper and I do really think they have done a better job then at The Guilford Hotel down the road. 'We began the journey by exposing the historic bones of the building to reveal the hotel’s layered past. The design celebrates the original architectural features such as timber beams, brickwork, remnants of pressed tin ceilings and unearthed fireplaces under 1970s render'.

This section was my favourite in the whole pub fairdinkum I could see myself here for a whole day... Maybe something for me to do one day hay, but it's named Connolly’s Sports Bar named after the Pubs founder, Paddy Connolly was a publican, a philanthropist, and a racehorse breeder which is a good background for a publican. He was legendary known for his prized stallion ‘Blue Spec’ that was the first WA horse to win the Melbourne Cup. Today the sports bar features local memorabilia, it also has a state-of-the-art tv screens, and also has live band music on the weekends.

And can you ever knock a Pub that has a verandah Bar! Not only do you enjoy a beaut feed up on the verandah but you can also enjoy the view of the street, while your sipping on a cold beer from just walking distance... Could you ask for more?

And while your asking for more how about this mouth watering Chicken Parmie that I'm about to sink my teeth into, so really this is probably yours truly's best Pub around Perth. And that's true mate! It has a ripper view the beers cold, it has heaps of street apeal as it's an old style pub and it has the history to go with it. Oh and it has a bloody ripper beer Garden and trust me I've seen a few beer Gardens in my short life, heaps of chairs with umbrellas to shade the heat and a good size TV screen for the footy.... Life doesn't get much better then this pub!
